Working with the Freereading Network, I've had many opportunities to read for others. These people, these complete strangers, reach out to us to find answers on their path of life. It's not only an honor to read for them, but it's an excellent opportunity to help others and learn more about ourselves and our Cards. I've found it astounding, however, how accurate the readings I performed for these strangers are. The Cards seem to hit the nail on the head everytime. But how is this possible?

One of the most mystifying things about reading the Tarot is that you come to find out that the Cards really do know! They know people and what's going on in their lives. They have the answers that we are looking for and they are ready to tell us. Our secrets, mysteries, and some words of advice are all told through the voices of the Tarot and its reader. The answer to the question of how they know all of this is understood by looking at the idea of Cosmic Consciousness. Cosmic Consciousness is the great pool of energy that connects all of us together. It's a place where our spirits and ideas and lives all come together. It is also where the Tarot gets the wealth of information it displays in a reading.

The Tarot connects to this pool of Cosmic Consciousness when the reader focuses his/her attention on the client/situation in question. As we're shuffling, our unconscious mind is working with the spirit of the Tarot to order the Cards in a manner that will tell the proper story to answer the question. The reader then uses his/her intuition and knowledge of the Cards' meanings to interpret the words of the Tarot to the client. The reader may not understand the story, may not know what the Card means to the client, and may think that he/she is wrong. But when the client starts laughing, or crying, or nodding their head in agreement to the words, we as readers know that the Tarot has worked its magic again.

The magic of the Tarot never ceases to amaze me. I love seeing the reaction on the client's face to the words that the Tarot has just spoken through my voice. It's a satisfying feeling that I've helped make someone else's life a little clearer. Now the client can go and make an informed decision about their life path, and the Cards and I can go on to help another soul on its journey.
